Fall Concert

Featuring Harry Watters - Trombone
Join the North Oakland Concert Band for “Into The Blue." We are excited to feature jazz trombonist Harry Watters. Harry travels nationally and internationally as a Jupiter Artist and clinician. He has several recordings on Summit Records and has performed with Doc Severinsen, Al Hirt, and Lou Rawls just to name a few! Selections featuring Harry Watters include “Over The Rainbow” and “Danny Boy” by Warren Barker, and Paul Murtha’s arrangements of “Cherokee” and “Flight of the Bumblebee.”

“Fundraiser for NOCB” Featuring the North Oakland Dixieland Band
The North Oakland Dixieland Band will present a wine and cheese concert to benefit the North Oakland Concert Band. This popular annual fundraising event will feature traditional swing and jazz music performed in a casual cabaret setting.

Holiday Favorites

Featuring Aaron Caruso - Baritone
The North Oakland Concert Band presents “Holiday Favorites.” Aaron Caruso, a baritone singer, is our featured guest. Aaron is a native of Fraser, Michigan and is one of the nation’s premiere classical crossover tenors, singing everything from Sinatra to Puccini. Highlights of this concert include “Ding Dong Merrily On High” and “Christmas on Broadway.” Aaron will join the band for “White Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” and “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch.”

Divergence

Winter Concert

Featuring Carl Cafagna - Saxophone
This Winter, join the North Oakland Concert Band for “Divergence." Carl Cafagna, a local alto saxophonist based in Troy, is our featured guest. Carl has performed with some of the most renowned names in music, including Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, The Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras, and The Temptations. This concert’s highlights include “First Suite in Eb” by Gustav Holst and Phillip Sparke’s “Fiesta de la Vida.” Carl will be featured on Darius Milhaud’s “Scaramouche” and “Concertino for Alto Saxophone & Wind Ensemble” by Warren Benson.

Spring Musicale

Small Ensemble Concert
Come and join us as the North Oakland Concert Band presents “A Spring Musicale,” an afternoon of music performed by small ensembles from the NOCB. This annual benefit concert will feature band members and friends performing a variety of works in a casual concert setting. Beer, wine and snacks will be served.

Promising Skies - Featuring Carl Grapentine - Narrator
The North Oakland Concert Band presents “Promising Skies.” This concert includes “Uranus” from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” and “Promising Skies” by Robert Smith. Carl Grapentine will join us to narrate “The Lincoln Portrait” by Aaron Copland.  Carl is recently retired from WFMT Classical Radio in Chicago and is the long-time announcer of The Michigan Marching Band and UM Football. Our special guests are the winners of this year’s NOCB concerto competition.

Movie Night - Summer Concert
Bring a lawn chair and join the North Oakland Concert Band for “Movie Night." This program features a mix of movie themes including Zimmer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Man of La Mancha” by Mitch Leigh. Movie soundtrack marches include John Williams’ “Raiders March” and “Star Wars Imperial March”, Silvestri’s “Captain America March,” and “Bond … James Bond” arranged by Stephen Bulla.
