Schedule
When: Thursday evenings, 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Season: September through May (breaks for holidays)
Concerts: 4-5 performances per season (Sunday evenings)
Additional Rehearsals: Sectionals and extra rehearsals scheduled as needed

What to Expect
Our audition process is designed to be welcoming and supportive. We're looking for musicians who are enthusiastic, reliable, and ready to contribute to our ensemble. The audition helps to place you within your section and ensures a good fit for both you and the band.

Express Your Interest: Potential members are asked to complete the application form (link below). As of September 2026, we have an express need for bassoon, percussion (especially set experience), string bass, and tuba. We keep a wait list for all sections and there may be opportunities to sub.

Audition Format: For invited potential members, we ask that you attend the first few concert rehearsals to see if the band is a mutual fit. This gives musicians an opportunity to sightread with the band and have some time to practice parts. Following these rehearsals, your section leader will by then share any feedback and make a recommendation.

Skill Level
We welcome musicians who have strong fundamentals and experience playing their instrument. Most of our members have at least high school-level playing experience, though we consider each musician individually.

Ideal Candidates: Have experience playing in ensembles, can read music proficiently, and are comfortable with intermediate to advanced repertoire. College students, music educators, and adult musicians of all ages are encouraged to audition.​
Membership Expectations
Attendance
Regular attendance at rehearsals and concerts is essential. We understand life happens, but we ask for advance notice of absences when possible.
Practice
Members are expected to practice their parts outside of rehearsal. With the exception of our first rehearsal of the season, concert music is available at the previous concert.
Membership Dues
Dues of $40/semester to help cover music, venue costs, and operations. Scholarships available for those with financial need.
Professionalism
We maintain a respectful, supportive environment. Members are expected to be punctual, prepared, and collaborative.
Concert Attire
Concert dress is formal black. Specific guidelines will be provided upon acceptance.
Volunteer Support
As a community ensemble, we rely on members to help with setup, fundraising, and other band activities throughout the season.
