Orion Township
Parks Amphitheater

The picture above is the proposed
Orion Township Parks Amphitheater.

Township Supervisor, at the presentation of
the township officials receiving the check from Pulte for
$50,000.
Nancy Leipold
and George Sinnott from the NOCB, worked on the grant request
of $50,000 from the Pulte Corporation, to help with the
funding of the amphitheater. The Pulte Corporation is a huge
builder of homes in the Lake Orion area, with an
estimated 1400 homes built.
There isn't a completion
date for the Amphitheater at this time, and it is doubtful that
it would be ready for this summer.
The money raised so far only covers half of the cost. Although
the Township Board will consider approval to seek bids at a future
meeting, fundraising efforts are continuing. Individuals as
well as businesses and organizations, are encouraged to contribute
to the project through the Orion Township Parks and Recreation
Department.
This
Amphitheater will be used for the North
Oakland Concert Band summer concert and the facility
would also be used for plays and other performing arts. In
addition to the current Township "Concert in the Parks" Series,
discussions have been started about having a summer band
festival at the new
Amphitheater. |
